Responsibilities:
This is an entry level Field-based sales position in the Specialty Pharmaceutical environment
This person will be responsible for effectively working in a team environment by applying promotional and selling strategies to expand Avanir’s business opportunities and deliver revenue in an assigned area and contribute to the achievement of the Company’s revenue goals.
Provides input and information to ensure awareness and appropriate use of Avanir’s products to Long-Term Care prescribers, Long-Term Care geriatric psychiatrists, and Long-Term Care nursing personnel.
Provide current product and disease state information of the Long-term Care market to assigned audience of Long-Term Care professionals while effectively communicating the clinical profile of Avanir’s products.
Provides clinical education and product promotion to Long-Term Care prescribers, consultant pharmacists, and Long-Term Care nursing personnel
Manages assigned key facility and Assisted living accounts
Implement strategy for communicating with Long-Term Care professionals
Daily activities include: one-on-one sales presentations to targeted Long-Term Care professionals; arrangement of group selling programs; provide continuing education and value added services to a wide range of Long-Term Care professionals; and analyze sales and market trends to effectively identify business opportunities
Compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and guidelines as well as the Company’s policies and procedures in connection with the performance of the job function, including, but not limited to, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the Prescription Drug Act, Marketing Act, the PhRMA Code related to interactions w/healthcare providers, and the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute


Qualifications and Experience:
Previous Sales experience preferred
Experience working independently but within a team environment
Proven experience to be a self-driven high performer
Valid Driver’s License, as a company car is provided
Ability to learn and apply new knowledge regarding technical / scientific information and effectively communicates to a broad audience of Long-Term Care professionals.
Takes ownership of assigned accounts. Ability to take an entrepreneurial approach in territory management.
Demonstrates the ability to cultivate new and existing relationships within an assigned area.
Proactively identifies obstacles and together with team members develops actions plans to achieve challenging goals.
Requires minimal supervision and direction.


Education: Bachelor’s degree required


Field based position, will require business travel including overnight travel estimated at 25% or less, depending on territory assignment.
