HOUSE ORDERLY-UHTH HOUSE ORDERLIES - Union Hospital - Terre Haute, IN

Assists with ambulation and transporting.

Turns or repositions patients.

Reports changes in physical appearance of patient to nurse.

Runs errands for nursing units.

Straightens units and rooms.

Assists with autopsies as needed.

Restocks and cleans morgue and documents body cooler temperature on weekly basis.

Utilizes O2 equipment in safe manner during patient transport.

Delivers and picks up linen as needed.

Performs chest compressions during Code Blue calls.

Delivers defibrillator to Code Blue calls.

Sets up traction as ordered by the physician and directed by the nurse.

Performs EKGs after being trained by CVT personnel and demonstrating competency.

Communicates to licensed staff any information from patients and families to what the patient/family would like to learn, readiness to learn, or their level of understanding.

Refers questions about diagnosis, medications, tests/procedures and instructions in preparation to discharge to the licensed staff.

Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Director.

Demonstrates proper use of lifting equipment.

Demonstrates ability to operate Bed Ready System

Consults with nursing unit for patients chart and other information about the patient.

Demonstrates how to transport patients with oxygen IV’s and chest tubes.

CPR REQUIRED -Must be flexible and able to work weekends, evenings, nights and some holidays

Direct patient care experience preferred
