Life/Fire Safety Equipment Expert - Full-Time - Days - Terre Haute Regional Hospital - Terre Haute, IN


Position summary: Inspects, tests, and maintains fire protection system as required by Life Safety Code (EC.5.10,EO3). Performs or insures the testing of fire safety equipment and conduct all troubleshooting and repairs on all life safety equipment. To perform repairs, maintenance and scheduled inspections on various types of mechanical equipment and systems that supports the medical air /gas system throughout the facility. Conduct general facilities maintenance repairs.

Position responsibilities:
· Repair and maintain various machinery and mechanical equipment, using proper hand and power tools and appropriate test equipment
· Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and systems. To include visual and internal inspections, adjustments and lubrication of mechanical/electrical components and repair or replacement of parts as needed
· Perform maintenance and testing on all medical air and gas systems and equipment
· Performs inspections and maintenance on equipment throughout the facility as assigned. Examples: electrical switches/lighting, plumbing fixtures and piping, and equipment mechanical failures
· Requisition to maintain a required stock of materials and repair parts for assigned duties
· Maintenance of the fire alarm system and related equipment
· Performs efficiently with CPCS
· Attends unit meetings, in services and other education programs to maintain competency requirements
· Performs other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department
· Attend Code of Conduct training course annually
· Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to HCA’s Code of Conduct
· Demonstrates conduct that is reflective of THRH’s commitment to HCA’s Code of Conduct
· Understands and satisfies the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and parents of neonates)

  • Adheres to the Standards of Behavior for Terre Haute Regional Hospital as per the Customer Relations Policy

Essential educational/licensure, skills and experience:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.

  • Valid Indiana Driver’s License

  • Previous experience with electrical controls and equipment controls preferred (operate volt/amp meter).

  • Previous Fire and Safety experience required

  • Crisis Prevention Certification must be maintained throughout employment with Terre Haute Regional Hospital
