The Transporter is responsible for transporting patients and equipment.

Position responsibilities:
- Transports patients to and from Imaging departments by wheelchair or stretcher observing all safety guidelines
- Displays knowledge in transporting patients of all ages: newborn, pediatrics, adolescence, adults and geriatric
- Observes patients conditions before transport. Obtains permission to transport and charts transport time. Will change mode of transportation if needed based on patients condition
- Observes patient’s privacy at all times providing blanket, etc. as needed
- Assist technologist in monitoring of patients while in Imaging department
- Understands, assists and satisfies the needs of patients as well as family members
- Maintains stretchers with clean linen. Assures that they are always ready for use
- Stocks changing areas daily with clean linen. Will notify laundry of shortages as needed. Disposes of soiled linen properly from exam and changing areas as needed
- Secures all oxygen tanks and maintains appropriate supply for all shifts daily
- Will assist with the maintaining and cleanliness of all wheelchairs and stretchers to assure patient safety
- Assists with the ordering and stocking of department supplies
- Assists with the processing of radiographs and duplicating of radiographs as needed
- Attend Code of Conduct training course annually
- Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to HCA’s Code of Conduct
- Demonstrates conduct that is reflective of THRH’s commitment to HCA’s Code of Conduct
- Understands and satisfies the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and parents of neonates)
- Must Adhere to the Standards of Behavior for Terre Haute Regional Hospital as per the Customer Relations Policy
Qualifications
Essential educational/licensure, skills and experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- BLS
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs
Valued but not required educational/licensure, skills and experience:
- At least one year of related experience preferred
