The position of Product Manager (Consumer & Office Business) is located at 3M South Africa, which is situated at Woodmead, a subsidiary responsible for the marketing and sales of a diversified range of products into Sub-Saharan Africa for the global corporation. To continue its growth in the region, the subsidiary has adopted a market focused strategy and is recruiting for this position to give effect to its business objectives. The Product Manager will be responsible for but not limited to the following specific duties:

Leads or coaches employees during a project or trains/mentors new employees within functional disciplines such as market research, channel/product marketing, business/market development, branding, etc. Initiates actions to lead projects, beginning to link project steps to business strategies. Applies analytical skills for analysis and interpretation of trends or data generated by company reporting systems, statistical results, or other information collection systems. Has a direct impact on the team/work group, providing direction, advice, or focus as needed. Work tasks to encompass concepts within multiple disciplines/practices which may include more than one department/location. Working tasks might include: a. Assists in developing marketing plans including collection, verification, analysis of data and recommendation on programs. b. The development and implementation of marketing research projects. c. Performs brand competitive analyses independently d. Uses data to accurately analyze channel opening and coverage e. Analyzes customer database to identity opportunities and communicate them to sales representatives f. Develops sales support materials that meet requirements in line with communication plans g. Identifies market segments and target customers based on data h. Contributes demand estimates that are accurate in quantity, timing and specification of required products i. Uses brand measures (awareness, familiarity, favorability, etc.) to assess the effectiveness of marketing activities j. Provides leadership and active support to the Marketing Council and/or Marketing Forums in the implementation of key programs and initiatives Primary contacts are typically internal and on a managerial, professional, supervisory, or co-worker level. Actively participates in relevant corporate programs/initiatives

Qualifications

Basic/Minimum Qualifications:

- IMM OR Equivalent Education

Marketing qualification (B.Com Marketing) Additional technical qualification would have a distinct advantage

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience:-

2 - 3 years marketing andr sales experience in Office and Retail environment 1 year in Key Accounts (Recommended)

Key Capabilities:-

Independent strategic thought, creativity in developing and implementing marketing plans. Must be able to make decisions Must be able to communicate with 3rd party sales force, technical staff and support functions Must be able to develop relationships with customers
