Senior Geotechnical Engineer

This is a senior level position in the consulting team and is regarded as a professional person in the delivery of geotechnical services, in line with our Clients suite of engineering products.

Functional Output / Duties
· Lead geotechnical engineering on services on projects in the mining and industrial applications
· Provide technical advice and consultancy on complex geotechnical issues to clients and internal staff
· Develop client relationship and build business
· Negotiate and review routine project contracts
· Use advanced techniques, modifications and extension of theories, practices to Synthesise and analyse data for decision making/
recommendations
· Build reputation as Technical Leader/Lead Consultant
· Keep abreast of advancing technologies, methods and research & development
· Manage, analyse and geotechnical reporting for projects which may include the following:
- Foundations for medium to large industrial developments and multi-storey developments with basements.
- Earthworks, ground improvement and development
- Problematic soils
· Provide safety leadership in identifying and alleviating/ eliminating high priority safety hazards and complete 4 OH&S incident reporting
per year
· Participate in training activities, mentoring and transferring knowledge to junior geotechnical engineers.
· Plan, develop schedules, coordinate and direct manpower on important engineering projects to meet completion deadlines.
· Supervise, coordinate and review/evaluate activities carried out by junior engineers.
· Prepare proposals and reports for clients
· Other duties as required

· Participate in the development and implementation of engineering systems, tools, policies and protocols in line with Engineering Business Unit
· Be an active part of the team, operational best practice and Balance Score Card

Innovative and Technical Excellence
· Identify and implement opportunities to apply engineering expertise
· Implement Projects that contain elements of the core engineering expertise
· Promote & develop new technical services and/or tools

Financial
· Positive financial contribution
· Execute projects in accordance with financial target in terms of profitability
· Manage debtors in accordance with targets

Healthy & Safety
· Promote Health & Safety systems and program priorities
· Act as and custodian of Heath and Safety best practice
· Health and safety performance indicators in line with target

Qualification, Experience / Knowledge

· Relevant Degree in the geotechnical / Civil Engineering
· Professional Register at ECSA (Min 4 years)
· 7 " 15 Years experience post graduation
· Legislation related to Engineering / Geotechnical environment
· Financial Knowledge
· Geotechnical experience at a consulting firm
· Exposure to mining and industrial projects
· Project Management Skills

Please note: Preference will be given to SA born Citizens, SA Permanent Residency, Holders of SA Work Permits. Other may apply and will be looked at on merit.
