CASA Recruiter/Trainer job - Vigo County, IN - Terre Haute, IN
This position is part-time – up to 29 hours/week.
Examples of Duties:
Develops and implements volunteer plans for Vigo County,
reflecting diversity and importance of recruiting African American, Hispanic,
and male advocates as priority.
Conducts radio and television interviews and public service
announcements, speaking events, social media plans, and newspaper interviews
regarding recruitment or with spotlight in an individual volunteer.
Conducts and overseas volunteer recruitment campaign for
Child Abuse Awareness Month, and/or Volunteer Appreciation Month, assisting
volunteer advocates with recruiting friends and colleagues.
Serves as lead recruiter for coordinating recruitment effort
of Coordinators.
Conducts training sessions for volunteers consistent with
National CASA study training program.
Distributes brochures and other public relations materials
at community events, trade shows and other activities.
Develops and implements follow-up system for volunteer
prospects through telephone, electronic mail (e-mail), and social media.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social science, marketing, public
relations, or related field, or equivalent combination of work experience with
extensive recruitment and/or volunteer management experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain required CASA training in
advocating for abused and neglected children in the Courts.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Ability to meet all employer and department hiring
requirements, including passage of a drug test, and criminal background check.
Working knowledge of standard office practices and ability
to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated processes, tasks, and operations.
Working knowledge of child welfare, and/or child focused
social issues and knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within families
in crisis relating to child abuse and neglect preferred.
Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and
punctuation, and ability to prepare various documents and reports as required.
Ability to properly operate standard office equipment, such
as computer, calculator, telephone, fax machine, copier, and postal machine.
Ability to provide public access to maintain confidentiality of department information and records according to state requirements.
Ability to comply with all employer and department policies
and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free
workplace, and personal conduct.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
with co-workers, other County departments, media, and the public, including
being sensitive to professional ethnics, gender, cultural diversities, and
disabilities.
Ability to understand, memorize, retain, and carry out
written and oral instructions, and present findings in oral or written form.
Ability to compile, collate or classify data.
Ability to work alone with minimum supervision and with
others in a team environment.
Ability to work on several tasks at the same time and work
rapidly for long periods, often under time pressure.
Ability to occasionally apply knowledge of people and/or
locations, and plan and layout assigned work projects.
Ability to plan and present public speaking presentations,
fund raisers, and special events.
Ability to occasionally work extended, weekends, and/or evening hours, and occasionally travel out of town for conferences, but not overnight.
Supplemental Information:
Incumbent performs a majority of duties in a standard office
environment, involving sitting/walking at will, lifting/carrying objects
weighing less than 25 pounds, keyboarding, speaking clearly, and hearing
sounds/communication. Incumbent occasionally work extended, weekends, and/or
evening hours, and occasionally travel out of town for conferences, but not
overnight.
