The Transmission and Distribution Division provides a 'total' service for electrical power, transmission and system development including overhead lines, distribution systems, cables, switchgear, transformers, protective relaying, substation control systems and other substation plant. They also provide comprehensive expert services to their clients related to the design and delivery of power systems in the UK and overseas. The acquisition of Merz and McLellan is a part of a strategic initiative to develop the consulting engineering power services of Mott MacDonald/Merz and McLellan in the Southern African and sub-equatorial countries of Africa. The Southern African power business unit will continue to trade under the Merz and McLellan® brand in the region

Due to a significant growth plans, we are now looking to add an additional Overhead lines engineer to our team.

In the field of electrical distribution the division has considerable expertise in the detailed design and engineering of projects for both rural and urban areas. Projects range from the development of green-field sites and the provision of supplies for new cities to the study and appraisal of existing systems in need of refurbishment or reinforcement.

The office based overhead lines section provides expertise in all aspects of overhead line transmission and works on projects involving Overhead Lines as well as other Multi Discipline power programs.

- Act as Overhead Line Engineer as directed by your Manager.
- Assist in resolution of any design rectifications.
- Provide designs, volumes and quantities as required for the estimated & target cost submissions such that upon acceptance, the budget, program and specification can be achieved.
- Ensure that any drawings produced represent the design as intended and that it is checked off by the appropriate person before submittal.
- Correspond with clients, consultants and team members as required to ensure that projects are completed on schedule and in accordance with specifications set by the client and Mott MacDonald.
- Ensure that you work to all procedures and standards set by the client and by Mott MacDonald.
- Undertake training as required to enable effective achievement of objectives.
