Line Specialist


Perform work of a Line Specialist in maintaining safe and adequate services to our customers.


 


Main Accountabilities:


Under limited direction, performs operations required in the installing, removing and maintaining of transmission and distribution poles, towers, conductors, pole top switches, underground and overhead transformers, cable and other equipment, devices, appurtenances, and services. Also install street lighting equipment and certain phases of work on metering installations, and patrol lines and perform other related work. Operate line truck, digging equipment, aerial device, small equipment and power tools. Required to climb poles and steel structures at heights of fifty feet (50) or greater to perform maintenance, removal and installation of poles, transformers, line conductors, etc. Specialists must present a neat appearance and work with both internal and external customers in a courteous and efficient manner. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to safe work practices, the ability to work within a team, and good communication skills.


 


Education:


Required: Candidates must possess a High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a structured apprenticeship / line specialist training program.


 


Work Experience:


Required: 4+ Years direct work experience related to the main accountabilities as outlined.


 


Functional / Technical Competencies


Required: Basic math skills, written and verbal communication skills, mechanical knowledge as well as the ability to use tools and equipment. Basic computer skills.


 


Eligible candidates must have a CDL or be willing to obtain one within 60 days of hire and required to live within 15 miles of their reporting headquarter. Required to be available to work overtime.
