Do you have the skills required to be a vital member of our team of DCS Services Case Managers / Life Skills Specialists?
We are looking for Case Managers/Life Skills Specialists with a background in social work and/or mental healthcare to work with our DCS services program within Greencastle, IN (Putnam County). Reporting to a Team Leader, the DCS Case Manager/Life Skills Specialist will be responsible for working with families referred by the Department of Child Services. The DCS Case Manager/ Life Skills Specialist primarily provides persons served with face-to-face contact for the purpose of coaching, teaching, or assisting persons served in meeting Person-Centered Treatment Plan goals to improve functioning in major life domain areas.
The DCS Case Manager/Life Skills Specialist’s duties will include but not be limited to:
1) Communicate and collaborate with DCS worker on a consistent basis via telephone, email, face-to-face, and monthly progress reporting to address needs of family;
2) Attend and participate in family team meetings when requested by DCS worker and/or family;
3) Provide parent education and training for individual families;
4) Coordinate transportation with foster families and consumers and assist in providing supervised visits when necessary;
5) Assist families with budgeting and money management;
6) Assist family with meal preparation and nutrition education;
7) Provide monthly reports on families’ progress and submit to DCS worker in a timely manner;
8) Provide community referrals;
9) Make court appearances and provide testimony when requested;
10) Respond to crisis calls from consumers; and
11) Provide on-call intervention covering evening, nighttime, and weekend hours.
Education / Experience
The ideal candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a directly related human service field. The DCS Case Manager/Life Skills Specialist must have persuasive communication skills, as well as great time management and organizational skills.
