Postdoctoral Fellow - FUNDECITRUS - Brazil, IN
We invite Young scientist with PhD degree concluded after 2009 to submit proposals for an open Post-Doc position at Fundecitrus – Fundo de Defesa da Citritultura (www.fundecitrus.com.br), supported by FAPESP in the frame of a Thematic Project. This a 24 months position fully committed to research.
The aim of this part of the project is to generate genetically modified plants to overcome HLB caused by Ca . L. asiaticus, employing candidate genes to target this intracellular, phloem restrict bacterium. Activities involved in gene selection, cassette construction and genetic transformation of citrus plants are duties of the selected person. Additionally, will be involved in characterization and diversity of prophages in Liberibacter population.
This scientist is expected to have experience in molecular biology (cloning, sequence analysis, gene expression) and microbiology, as well as knowledge of basic bioinformatics tools. Experience in plant transformation and analysis of molecular marques for diversity studies are welcomed.
We expect to find a self-motivated and oriented person, with abilities to perform teamwork in a private laboratory, closely linked to the citrus industry.
English fluency is expected as well as fully dedication to the activities of the project.
