Responsibilities:
· The basic function of the Welding Engineer is to direct, supervise and coordinate activities in welding techniques, procedures, and applications of welding equipment to problems involving the fabrication of metals. This function will be accomplished personally or through the efforts of subordinate personnel.
· The Welding Engineer has full authority to directly supervise up to 30 people and to carry out supervisory responsibility in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable regulations.
· Directs and coordinates technical personnel in performing inspection to ensure workers compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standard in testing welds for conformance with national code requirement, or testing welding personnel for certification
· Evaluates new developments in welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production process.
· Establishes welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material process, customer set-up specifications, pre and post heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post-heating requirements
· Evaluates and estimates process procedures for developing cost analysis on new jobs
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s of Science in Welding Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent in combination of work experience and education
· Three or more years in a welding engineering function in production manufacturing and assembly
