Manufacturing Shop Supervisor - Red Envelope Consulting - Terre Haute, IN
Position Summary:
The Shop Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the activities in the shop and manufacturing support departments. They are additionally responsible for all manufacturing activities at the operating level and to achieve effective and efficient use of facilities and personnel as well as conformance to schedules and budgets. This position reports to the General Manager and supervises the shop and manufacturing support personnel.
Job Duties/Work Performed:
- Oversee and ensures proper shop planning and scheduling to meet sales forecasts and to balance the level of manpower and machine requirements.
- Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production schedules to meet company goals, adjusting schedules as needed.
- Maintain optimum production plans to ensure on-time deliveries meeting customer requirements.
- Develop, establish, and provide for the maintenance of reporting systems that relate to the manufacturing function.
- Implement and drive continuous improvement activities through implementation of change management process and best practices.
- Work with other departments to coordinate operations and activities within or among departments.
- Demonstrate equipment operations, work processes, and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
- Track competencies of subordinates and provide leadership and development as required to achieve company objectives.
- Ensure coaching and development of resources to meet business’s objectives, including supervising and motivating a team of workers.
- Ensure that the company’s established procedures are followed in connection with all manufacturing department functions.
- Ensure implementation and evolution of safety procedures.
- Perform timely job performance reviews and compensation administration.
- Other duties as assigned.
Responsibility/Authority:
- Supervise the shop and manufacturing support personnel as assigned to the position.
- Function with the highest level of integrity.
- Accountable to the General Manager.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or suitable work experience.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Unquestionable ethical standards.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
