Position Summary

Staples MHE associates are responsible for various activities within the distribution center which could include selecting and moving product, and building pallets. Materials handling equipment certification is required, with on the job training provided, and the ability to operate various types of equipment to include Turret Truck, Cherry Picker, Reach Truck, Dock Stocker, Forklift, and Pallet Jack. Must be able to work 12 hour shifts

(8 or 10 hour shifts for Rialto and 10 for Wauregan)

and overtime as scheduled. Associates must possess reading, writing and basic math skills, as well as the ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and may require working at heights. Please note that this is a summary job description and does not specifically list all of the essential functions of the job.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Selects product from rack or floor location moving product onto pallet.


• Uses RF terminal to obtain and verify completion of work assignments.


• Moves product to the putaway and replenishment areas between PND’s and rack locations.


• Moves product to assigned racking or floor location.


• Ensures product is in correct location and pallet is stacked properly.


• Maintains neat and clean work areas.


• Inspects all power equipment prior to operation.


• Stacks product neatly and safely.


• Removes empty pallets from racks.


• Selects and builds pallets of conveyables and non-conveyable merchandise.


• Ability to work at heights.


• Regular attendance.

Work as a team member by interacting and communicating with fellow associates in a cooperative, constructive manner.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Basic knowledge of arithmetic. Ability to read and write. Ability to count. Material handling equipment certification. Approximately 2 – 3 months of on-the-job training.

WORK CONDITIONS

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

• Work at heights up to 29 feet on material handling equipment.


• Work in hot environment of approximately 95

o

F at upper levels during the summer.

• Work in cold environment of approximately 10

o

F on receiving dock during the winter.

• Ability to lift, push or pull equipment/merchandise weighing 70 pounds.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Wear safety harness when operating stock picker and aerial lift equipment.

EQUIPMENT & TOOLS UTILIZED

Writing instruments, computer, pallet jack, forklift, hand truck, motorized vehicle.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

• Prefer minimum three (3) months related experience in a operations environment; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training, education and experience


• Must be dependable and demonstrate the ability to follow directions


• Limited computer data entry skills


• Prefer High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
