Position Qualifications:

Previous employment in a health care related setting preferred.
·
Strong interest in health care
·
High school diploma or equivalent required.
·
Commitment to a minimum of 2 weekend shifts in a 4 week period, in addition to a minimum of 48 hours in a 4 week period.
Position Responsibilities:
Must be courteous, cooperative, and supportive of hospital staff, patients, and visitors.
Must be able to communicate effectively and purposefully
with patients and must have strong relationship skills.
Must possess a teamwork attitude and demonstrate responsibilities for own actions.
Must be self-directed in maintaining job responsibilities.
Position Highlights:
This position will have the opportunity to provide targeted companionship for the safety and comfort of a variety of patients in a hospital setting.
Patient Sitters will receive orientation for a specific skill set with hands –on training at the bedside.
The Resource Center Nursing Care Manager will assist the patient sitter in the self-scheduling process.
Hours for availability will be in accordance with PRN requirements and conform to the minimum requirements of the Resource Center.
This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in communication skills and exposure to health care to a multitude of acute care settings.
