GM Powertrain Job in Bedford, Indiana US

Job Title:                  Cook – GM Powertrain

Department:            Food Operations   


Reports To:              Food Service Coordinator/Café, Lead/Catering Manager  


FLSA Status:            Nonexempt             


 


1st Shift Monday-Friday.  5:00am-1:00pm


Pay Rate: $9.25//hr


 

Prepares soups, meats, vegetables, salads, dressings, and desserts for consumption in food operation by performing the following duties.


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.   Other duties may be assigned.  


 


Dining/Catering Goals:


  • Responsible for food preparation in food center. Is main food preparer, cooks entrée’, vegetables, and specialty items, follows planned menu schedule,

  • Follows standards set for food preparation, ensures freshness of ingredients used in food preparation, maintains knowledge of recipe and uses appropriate seasonings and spices to produce quality food.

  • Serves food at the appropriate temperature and at the appropriate time for the customer.

  • Controls food waste, by possessing the ability to determine correct amounts of food to prepare.

  • Performs cooking duties with other workers, while cooking large amounts of food to meet established standards.

  • Responsible for keeping kitchen clean and organized, following “Clean as you go” attitude.

     General:


  • Inspects equipment for cleanliness and functional operation.

  • Establishes good rapport with service location employees through verbal communication and excellent service to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Responsible for maintaining accurate and orderly production records.

  • Responsible for performing all job duties in a safe manner.

 


Supervisory Responsibilities:  This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:  High School diploma or GED; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


 


Language Skills:  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


 


Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American currency and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


 


Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
