Property Management Accounting Associate job - Thompson Thrift - Terre Haute, IN



The Property Management Accounting Associate must be sharp, detail-oriented and organized. This person will be responsible for assisting with the billing and collection of rents and related property management tenant expenses and the review of retail financial statements and invoices, as well as annual reconciliation of retail operating expenses.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 4-year undergraduate degree required (may consider a two-year degree, if applicant has three to five years related experience in an actual business accounting office).

• Superb organizational and analytical skills.

• Detail oriented and the ability to communicate well.

• Basic accounting knowledge.

• Proficient in accounting software systems and a master of Excel; experience in Crystal Reports a plus.

• Must be able to read and interpret commercial lease documents.

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and be able to draft a professional business letter.

• Must be able to work independently and meet objectives without close supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Calculation and billing of sub-metered utility accounts.

• Set up billing accounts and maintain client invoices with respect to Tenant operating expenses (CAM, Tax, and Insurance).

• Auditing account reports to ensure accurate billing and client specific information.

• Daily review of open tenant receivables and appropriate follow up with tenants to insure prompt tenant payments.

• Process, review and distribute monthly tenant statements of account.

• Provide a semi-monthly collection report to the Senior Property Manager for presentation to the Vice President of Property Management and the appropriate Staff Accountant, with concise notes regarding outstanding sums due.

• Assist Property Managers with monthly review of real estate financial documents and coordinate any corrections and/or reclassifications with the appropriate Property Manager and Retail staff accountant.

• Assist Property Managers in the creation of annual real estate budgets.

• Will be trained on Timberline Property Management software, ultimately becoming the Timberline specialist for the Property Management department.

• Handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

• Other duties, as assigned.
