Position summary: The MRI Tech performs MRI, radiographic and special procedures at level not requiring supervision of technical detail, performing a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative. The MRI Tech must be able to assists in specialty areas (ie. OR, Invasive.)
Position responsibilities:
Assumes full responsibility for one or more modalities in MRI and Radiology
Produces MRI exams and images, as well as radiographs in accordance with established standards
Positions, transfers and provides immobilization assistance as required
Demonstrates Competency through completion of annual competencies for MRI and radiology
Practices sterile techniques and the prevention of cross contamination within the framework of the hospital policies
Provides protection for patient and personnel in accordance with prescribed state and federal guidelines
Provides pertinent patient history as needed by Radiologists for interpretation
Completes all exams and enters related charges in CPCS
Demonstrates knowledge in producing MRI studies and radiographs on patients of all ages; newborn, pediatrics, adolescence, adult and geriatric
Process MRI images, radiographs, and duplicates films as needed
Notifies appropriate person(s) regarding diagnostic equipment issues
Attempts to resolve processing issues when possible or notifies appropriate person(s)
Provides first aid when necessary, maintaining current CPR
Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department
Attend Code of Conduct training course annually
Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to HCA’s Code of Conduct
Understands and satisfies the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and parents of neonates)
Adheres to the Standards of Behavior for Terre Haute Regional Hospital as per the Customer Relations Policy
Qualifications
Education:
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)
- Certification by the Indiana Board of Health
Experience:
- At least one to two years of practical experience
- Completed MRI training and demonstrated competency
- At least one year experience as an radiology or MRI Tech preferred
Certifications:
- CPR required
- BLS must be maintained throughout employment with Terre Haute Regional Hospital
