Summary of a Physical Therapy Assistant - Inpatient
A Physical Therapy Assistant interested in a full time permanent position with a leading healthcare organization is strongly encouraged to explore this opportunity.
Physical Therapy Assistants work under the direction of Physical Therapists in a variety of healthcare settings. Responsibilities include providing treatment and rehabilitative service to patients who have experiences injury or disabling disease. Inpatient therapy patients could be placed in a couple of levels of inpatient therapy: acute, acute rehab, or sub acute rehab. In these settings, the patient is unable to return home as a result of their injury or illness and require intensive therapy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer treatment to patients under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
Oversee exercises and therapeutic procedures such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound and mechanical traction.
Perform therapeutic massage and train patients in proper gait and balance when deemed necessary.
Monitor treatment plans and make adjustments to the plans if deemed necessary after consultation with a Physical Therapist and analysis of progress or side effects.
Physical therapist assistants may also show patients how to use crutches, and prepare other therapy-related equipment for therapy sessions.
