Brazil Regional Studies & New Ventures Manager - USA
The role
Lead team to identify, delineate and risk frontier, emerging and mature exploration plays in offshore Brazil.
Guide and support Brazil exploration efforts via a basin analysis and play-based exploration approach.
The Manager is accountable for the production and quality of the regional geologic framework.
This framework supports evaluation of exploration leads/prospects, licence round recommendations, asset acquisitions and data acquisitions.
Responsibilities
Guide technical staff and develop work plans to deliver products suited to the goals and objectives of the business.
Provide recommendations for data acquisition, deploy leading-edge technology and research developments and support maturation of leads/prospects for exploration and new venture opportunities.
Create a working environment that promotes positive and goal oriented outcomes for the business.
The scope of the role also requires managing participation in license rounds, proactive relationship-building with IOC’s/NOC’s for screening, evaluation, and recommendation of evolving exploration/business development opportunities within Brazil. Utilize network of industry contacts, third-party advisory services and academic institutions to create a competitive industry advantage.
Development and mentorship of direct reports is expected – four direct reports planned.
The Manager role is not currently a direct budget holder; however, the individual directs and recommends spend for seismic data and manages relevant external projects.
Required Qualities
Proven leadership and technical capabilities.
Minimum 10 years relevant exploration experience practiced in play analysis and familiar with relevant passive-margin, deepwater and rift-related plays.
Educated to MA/MSc level preferred
Broad-based international experience is a plus.
Consistently proven oil finder.
Ability to screen plays and exploration proposals.
Team builder and player.
Can manage projects.
Substantial headroom.
Excellent communicator.
