Network Security Engineer

NETWORK SECURITY ENGINEER (CRANEIT-15-1208-Z):

Bowhead is hiring a Network Security Engineer to identify software and solutions for developing Intrusion Detection Architecture for NSWC Crane networks. This shall include deploying Intrusion Detection Architecture for NSWC Crane networks; and conducting vulnerability scans for several major servers supporting the NSWC Crane network. The Network Security Engineer will also conduct vulnerability scans and penetration testing; audits; reviews; and logs on the NSWC Crane critical infrastructure.


The Network Security Engineer will work closely with Crane’s Information Assurance Manager (IAM) and security staff to assist in continued development of the Intrusion Detection Architecture. The Network Security Engineer will also work closely with Crane’s IAM and security staff as well as Crane’s RDTand;E staff in identifying security risks and exposures and defining security policies; standard; and guidelines. The Network Security Engineer will create reports showing data traffic trends and conduct scans for unsecured wireless networks; conduct research and provide guidance. The Network Security Engineer will be responsible for communicating DOD mandated security requirements; documentation of IDS software and/or hardware used; and other topics specific to Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA’s).


— Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) and 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, experience and certifications.


— Must be in the CNDSP Certification line


— Thorough understanding of network and computer systems


— Experience with application development methodologies


DESIRED SKILLS:
— CEH Certification
— Prior experience supporting the Information Technology Services Division (Code 104) at NSWC Crane


SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance and maintain access to government/military installations. Active Secret clearance highly desired. US Citizenship is a requirement for access to this military installation


Physical Demands: The office environmental conditions consist of computer stations and desks with adequate and adjustable lighting. Chairs are designed to fit the various individuals and the tasks being performed. Ergonomic evaluations are completed as needed, to provide up to date modifications to all work stations.
