Correctional Officer - Putnamville Correctional Facility - Greencastle, IN


Incumbent works in an adult male correctional facility for offenders. She/He is responsible for following post orders, maintaining order, supervising and controlling offenders and their activities. Incumbent works on an assigned shift in a specific unit or post, under the general supervision of a Correctional Sergeant. Incumbent maintains the security of the unit, as well as the safety of staff and offenders, while ensuring daily activities and programs proceed on schedule.


Applicants hired for this position will start at $907 bi-weekly / $12.09 per hour. Upon successful completion of the initial required training (5 -6 months) the salary will increase to $1,062 bi-weekly / $14.16 per hour.


Required qualifications: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age; Possess a high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate; and have three years of full time work experience, or college credits. Possession of a valid driver’s license from state of residence, comparable to an Indiana license, required. Must be willing to undergo a background investigation. Must be able to pass a drug screen.


Putnamville Correctional Facility is a smoke free / drug free work environment. No tobacco products are permitted within the facility.
