Virtualization Engineer

ABOUT THE POSITION 

This representative will work in our technology services group (TSG) and serve as a senior specialist in the area of systems administration with concentration on virtualization technologies, playing a key role in defining, building and supporting enterprise infrastructure. The Virtualization Specialist will report to the Services Manager.

This team member will be given considerable autonomy in representing Joink and completing work, should be self -motivated, able to prioritize and report on work status, and be committed to complete transparency in performing key responsibilities.

 Client Services Technical Manager & Client Services Operations Manager

SUPERVISES

 No direct reports

 May lead, train, or participate in work team assignments

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This associate has the following key responsibilities:

 Build new physical and virtual servers; install operating systems and application software.

 Top-down configuration of hypervisors including networking, storage, and user access

 Develops and implements the configuration of Storage and Backup Platforms.

 Interact with internal and external resources to configure and deploy new software and systems.

 Interact with internal and external resources to document technical processes including server configuration and deployment, maintenance of such systems, and pre-sales and post-sales project technical documentation.

 Always communicate and exhibit professional conduct.

 Provide excellent written and verbal communication.

 Be able to present to internal and external project stakeholders on the merits of a particular system design or implementation.

 Be familiar with the relevant underlying technologies being implemented, their application to the internal business or external client needs.

 Maintain an ability to communicate at both a business and technical level.

 Prepare scope of work and maintenance window cut sheets for projects.

 Respond in writing to Request for Proposals with the ability to design and assemble the correct hardware and software necessary for the project.

 Manage multiple client projects with the ability to track multiple details fluently.

 Handle confidential information – including restricted use of cell phone conversations in a public setting, secure versus insecure email, and paper/electronic recordkeeping in compliance with client and Joink requirements.

 Track time throughout each day and enter that time in Joink’s time tracking tool.

 Document each interaction or attempted interaction within business management software.

 Additional duties as assigned.

Key qualifications required to fill this position are:

 Bachelor’s degree required

 3 to 5 year’s professional experience working in production networks required

 Excellent multi-tasking skills required to carry out multiple projects on time

 Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

 Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously both running solo as well as in a team environment

 Able to maintain a calm and professional demeanor

 Willing to learn new technologies and perform additional duties as needed

 Able to work some overtime as needed and/or without advance notice

 Able to be on call on a rotational basis

Candidates with one or more of the following will be given priority in the selection process:

 VMware Certified Professional (VCP5)

 Cisco CCNA

 Cisco UCS – Data Center Specialist

WORKING CONDITIONS

 8 AM – 5 PM Monday through Friday

 After hours maintenance as requested/required by customer
