Network Engineer


Voice/Data Engineer


 


ABOUT THE POSITION 


This representative will work in our Client Services team and work as a consultative network engineer. This representative will work alongside other team members to provide support and consulting across technical engagements representing key local business engaged in the education, banking, and healthcare verticals. The Network Engineer will report to the Client Services Operations and Technical Managers.


This team member will be given considerable autonomy in representing Joink and completing work, should be self -motivated, able to prioritize and report on work status, and be committed to complete transparency in performing key responsibilities. In addition, this team member should be capable of finding solutions to problems and be comfortable bringing management a problem along with one or more proposed solutions.

 May lead, train, or participate in work team assignments


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


This associate has the following key responsibilities:


 Be familiar with the relevant underlying technologies being implemented, their application to the client needs, and ability to talk both at a business level and a technical level


 Develop, design, and deploy new networking equipment to provide increased performance or availability of customer networks


 Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment across a subset of Cisco wired/wireless/voice technologies


 Solve network problems through configurations or equipment replacement often during network outages


 Interface with pre-sales and post-sales internal Joink and external Cisco representatives


 Serve in a consultative role, helping customers deploy and manage their own Cisco voice applications


 Be able to present to internal and external project stakeholders on the merits of a particular network design or implementation


 Prepare scope of work and maintenance window cut sheets for projects


 Manage multiple client projects with the ability to track multiple details fluently


 Handle confidential information – including restricted use of cell phone conversations in a public setting, secure versus insecure email, and paper/electronic recordkeeping in compliance with client and Joink requirements


 Track billable and project time throughout each day, never getting more than two business days behind on time entry


 Document each interaction or attempted interaction within business management software


 Take an active interest in learning and staying current with the latest technologies


 Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills


 Additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS


Key qualifications required to fill this position are:


 Associates’ degree required


 Experience with Mitel voice platforms


 Solid understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 QOS


 CCIE voice certification preferred


 3 to 5 year’s professional experience working in production networks required

 Experience working in 24×7 operations and performing network maintenance during limited maintenance windows preferred


 Experience with Cisco 6500 Sup720, SUP-2T, and WiSM technology preferred


 Experience with Cisco Call Manager


 Experience supporting 24×7 high availability, production


 Experience working to service different customers (either divisions within a larger organization or preferably different customers in a consultative/billing environment)


 Experience in both pre-sales and post-sales network engineering is preferred. We are a growing business and an engineer who can help design a bill of materials on the front end and install the solution on the back end is preferred.


 Able to write technical and operational process documents


 Able to write training documents to allow other teammates to provide continued support/maintenance


 Possess excellent multi-tasking skills required to carry out multiple projects on time


 A valid driver’s license and clean driving record


 The ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor


 The desire to learn new technologies and perform additional duties as needed


 Able to travel frequently and for extended periods for training and professional development (this will be especially true in the first six months of employment)


Candidates with one or more of the following will be given priority in the selection process:


 Bachelors’ degree in an IT discipline


 CCNP


 CCIE voice


WORKING CONDITIONS


 8 AM – 5 PM Monday through Friday


 After hours maintenance as requested/required by customer


 Occasional work in the field on big projects where use of a ladder to install cabling or equipment alongside field technicians may be necessary
