Field Mechanic (Entry Level) Preventative Maintenance Mechanic Job in Mount Meridian 46135, Indiana US
Get hands-on experience as a forklift mechanic through our Preventative Maintenance Apprenticeship program. We’ll provide the training & resources to learn! As an entry-level mechanic, you’ll perform general, non-diagnostic repairs and learn from experienced Wiese mechanics. After you get some experience under your belt, you can work your way up to a master mechanic. As the exclusive CAT forklift dealer in the central Midwest, Wiese continues to be an industry leader and has several career paths to follow. This is Step One! Wiese is seeking driven and detail-oriented candidates that are interested in making a career of the material handling business!
Make no mistake – this job isn’t for someone that is satisfied with working on the same type of vehicle at the same location every day. Wiese Techs take ownership of their clients and territory of business. You drive your “shop” to client locations and work on something different every day – forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, floor scrubbers, UTVs. It is exciting and designed for those who enjoy a high-volume, fast paced work environment.
Job Responsibilities
• Maintain an organized, neat, and safe company vehicle.
• Focus on maintaining a safe work environment and neat work space at client locations.
• Change oil and/or transmission fluid and filters.
• Install batteries and check electrical systems.
• Inspect tires.
• Ability to operate and test equipment.
• Ability and desire to learn to diagnose and repair basic systems including fuel systems, powertrain, electrical, brakes & steering, hydraulics, front end masts.
PM Apprentices are enrolled in Wiese University with access to over 6,000 how-to-repair videos and an additional 20,000 videos on everything from customer service to computer training, YOU have control of how quickly you learn and those resources are available at your fingertips, 24/7. In addition to the online library of resources, all PM Apprentices receive training in their daily performance of job duties and will also participate in four main steps in the program.
Technicians with more experience are invited and expected to function as Lead PM Apprentices and assist the new technicians who are given on-the-job training as situations occur.

• Basic Computer Skills
• Must have a valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to handle weight up to 50 lbs.
• A tech school degree / certificate or any ASE certification is a big plus, but not required.
