The PR Manager, Brazil and Latin America will develop and implement Thomson Reuters public relations strategy across the region to protect and enhance the corporation's reputation. The role supports the whole of Thomson Reuters throughout Brazil and Latin America - ranging from corporate affairs and crisis communications as well as supporting its businesses which provide financial services, media, legal, tax and science professionals with the information and tools they need to make better decisions faster.
The PR Manager, Brazil and Latin America is an active member of the regional leadership team and will offer expert advice, council and guidance in relation to reputation management, media relations, public communications, crisis management and all aspects of the external communications function. The individual will also work closely with the global PR leadership team to ensure regional messages are joined up with those across the corporation and its businesses.
The candidate will need to be able to think proactively, collaborate effectively, possess the gravitas and finesse to advise clients on communications strategies and initiatives, coach on media techniques/initiatives, and ultimately be considered a valued extended team member of the regional business and global PR teams. S/he will also build a healthy attribution franchise on leading content sets as well as capitalize on trends in the region to position Thomson Reuters as a thought leader.
Role Accountabilities:
· Responsible for Thomson Reuters external communications agenda through the development of effective global external communications plans, channels, tools and relationships across the organisation to ensure effective, timely and consistent public relations, media and financial communication and engagement
· Responsible for ad-hoc financial briefings, senior executive visits, business developments and crises communications planning and management
· Identifies and develops key relationships and ensures effective management of relationships with media and key opinion formers
· Ensures effective relationship and stakeholder management at a strategic level, acting as a point of contact and representative for Thomson Reuters
· Leads all media relations activities (broadcast, print and online), event planning, speaking engagements & positioning, writing, translating and distributing press releases, tracking and measurement of results, media attribution and crisis communications
Qualifications
Experience
· At least 10 years PR experience gained within an agency or in-house PR role; financial, legal, media or technology background preferred
· A degree in finance/economics, journalism or PR preferred
· A strong knowledge of the financial sector (in areas like equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, asset management and risk management) and/or legal and tax industries; and relationships with reporters and industry influencers in Latin America.
· Proven record in delivering measurable PR results across print, online and broadcast
Skills
· Effective, polished verbal and written communication skills in Brazilian Portuguese and English; Spanish and other languages a plus
· In-depth knowledge of the financial, legal and/or tax industries in Brazil and Latin America
· Top-notch media relations skills
· A proactive nature and hands-on approach
· Ability to work in a real-time, global environment
· Strong interpersonal, organizational and management skills. Ability to create, implement and manage programs
· Thorough understanding of the key trends and issues impacting the financial services, legal, tax and/or media industries in Latin America
· Able to quickly comprehend complex financial, legal industry and media issues and reports and distil into subjects of interest for the media
