Brazil Community Development Internship

During this internship you will make a real difference to the lives of underprivileged children and local community leaders, and gain invaluable hands on practical experience in a variety of fields including project management, and gain an internationally recognized qualification in Team Leading. You will be typically working with children aged between 2 and 12 on basic education and literacy projects and will work alongside a dedicated staff supervisor to ensure you maximize your placement, cultural and learning activities. Education for children between 2-5 is not free, so the children spend their time in the streets where we work. GVI, along with leaders of the communities, are providing schools that are free to attend and provide daily food, often the only food they will eat. Paid and unpaid positions may be available for qualifying candidates after their internship.

How this program makes a difference:

A substantial part of the fee goes towards the day-to-day running costs of the projects themselves throughout the year, which includes local salaries, fruit and other food for the children, educational materials for classes, monthly birthday and other celebrations, painting and maintenance. The children would receive no education if this program did not exist.

Highlights:

Living and breathing Salvador, teaching children, vibrant Brazilian culture, learning about Brazilian dance and cookery, world-famous Brazilian beaches, optional cultural workshops and excursions, amazing community interaction. Gain an internationally recognised certificate in Team Leading.
