Shipping and Receiving Clerk - ADVICS - Terre Haute, IN

Summary/Objective

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.

Essential Functions

  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

  • Prepares bill of ladings for outgoing shipments.

  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications

  • Packages orders as required and maintains documentation for shipping and receiving.

  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

  • Routes items to departments.

  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

  • Operates forklift to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

  • Maintains 5S standards and maintains Kanbans.

Work Environment

Juvenile Justice Center Full-time Detent... - Vigo County, IN - Terre Haute, IN

Incumbent serves as Detention Officer for the Vigo County Juvenile Center, responsible for maintaining security and order within the facility.

Examples of Duties:
Enforces local, state, and federal laws by implementing effective policy to protect the lives and property of the people.


Provides security for the Vigo County Juvenile Detention Center, enforcing all facility and County policies and procedures, including housing rules for youth detained.


Provides supervision of residents detained in facility during daily activities, including, but not limited to, personal hygiene, meals, recreation, and classroom.


Receives and processes all new residents into facility, including, but not limited to, gathering and documenting personal information, notifying parent/guardian, logging personal property, searching juvenile and their clothing, showering, delousing, and providing basic orientation of facility policies and regulations.


Escorts residents to various appointments, such as court, doctor’s appointments, and placements.


Administers prescriptions and over-the-counter medications to residents. Collects residents laundry, washes residents intake clothing/daily clothing, and maintains clean and organized work area, including daily cleaning of facility.


Conducts security checks and room searches. Evaluates residents on continuous basis for behavioral changes and reports all changes. Prepares and adheres to shower rolls for residents’ daily showers.


Observes residents in cells at required intervals for observation of suicide assessment confinement and security checks and logs daily observations.


Remains alert to respond to problems, emergencies, and safety or security violations, including, but not limited to, rule infractions, conflicts between residents, attempted escapes, irrational or inappropriate behavior, and illness, responding with appropriate actions and/or disciplinary measures. Intervenes in any situation requiring prompt attention, including physical intervention.


Serves as liaison between residents and other agencies.


Meets and maintains core competency requirements yearly.


May provide testimony in legal proceedings/court.


Performs related duties as assigned.


Typical Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.


Possession of or ability to obtain/maintain required certifications, including First Responder/CPR certification, OC Spray, cell extraction, blood borne pathogens, medication distribution, and ServSafe certification.


Must be at least 21 years.


Ability to meet all Department hiring requirements, including passage of a criminal history check, sexual registry check, BMV check, physical exam and a drug test.


Thorough knowledge of and ability to make practical application of the customary practices, procedures, rules and regulations of the Department, and take authoritative action as situations demand.


Working knowledge of and ability to use all assigned Department equipment and weapons, including computer, camera, radio, vehicle, calculator, fingerprinting equipment, tear gas/mace, handcuffs, shackles, metal detector, and soft restraints.


Working knowledge of Standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to complete required reports within Department deadlines.


Working knowledge of universal health precautions and blood borne pathogens control, and ability to apply such knowledge to protect oneself against infection.


Working knowledge of radio frequencies, codes, procedures, and limitations, and ability to speak clearly, hear and be heard when communicating by radio, by telephone, or in person.


Knowledge of and ability to work with troubled youth in a group or individual setting, apply and enforce group living guidelines on a daily basis, and handle threatening situations with minimal amount of physical force.


Ability to obtain and apply knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws, codes, ordinances, and accepted police procedures.


Ability to appropriately receive, maintain, and account for detainee articles received.


Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, other County departments, law enforcement, residents’ family members, and members of the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities, and disabilities.

Incumbent may be required to encounter resistance, walk up/down flights of stairs, and wear protective clothing. Safety precautions must be followed at all times to prevent injury to self or others.

Coordinates Emergency Medical Service (EMS) related activities and duties, which are the responsibility of Regional Hospital. Primary responsibility for development and maintenance of hospital relationships with EMS providers. Serves as an advocate of the hospital with local, regional, and state EMS agencies. Ensures collaboration across all care settings within the facility as it relates to EMS by participating in performance improvement, quality review, marketing, daily operational support, and educational outreach. Helps drive service line growth. Responsible for instructing ACLS, PALS, BLS courses.

Qualifications


Essential educational/licensure, skills and experience:


  • Successful completion of Emergency Medical Technician program and graduate of a Paramedic training program

  • ACLS, PALS, BLS certified- must obtain instructor credentials within 6 months of hire

  • Good communication skills

  • Must be state or nationally registered Paramedic


Valued but not required educational/licensure, skills and experience:


  • Associate/ Bachelor’s degree

  • 3-5 years EMS experience

Physical demands and the work environment:

  • Physical demands: This position will require you to lift 25 pounds or less frequently, lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Walk and stand most of the day, bend and stoop frequently.

  • Work environment: While in this position you will spend approximately 75% of your time inside in a climate controlled area. Handling multiple priorities at a time. Works alone. Working in an area that is confined and or crowded

  • OSHA Category III: The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Position is not required to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
