Shipping and Receiving Clerk - ADVICS - Terre Haute, IN

Summary/Objective

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.

Essential Functions

  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

  • Prepares bill of ladings for outgoing shipments.

  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications

  • Packages orders as required and maintains documentation for shipping and receiving.

  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

  • Routes items to departments.

  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

  • Operates forklift to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

  • Maintains 5S standards and maintains Kanbans.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Frequently the work environment may be loud, requiring hearing protection.


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and walk for at least 10 hours; and required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must also frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Expected Hours of Work

Team member must be available during the “core” work hours of 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Monday through Friday and as deemed necessary by company/customer demands.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and two years manufacturing experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
