Gas Operatins Supervisor
Job Purpose:
Responsible for the daily supervision of field operations personnel, including maintenance crews, construction crews, emergency responders, service technicians, and contractor personnel in a cost-effective and productive manner. Manage and oversee company and contract crews to meet customer needs, financial targets, and all regulatory and safety requirements.
Main Accountabilities:
Coordinate, monitor, and optimize the daily work activity of Field Operations personnel to complete appropriate tasks as scheduled and on budget. Motivate, coach, develop, and discipline BU and non-exempt employees within area of responsibility. Coordinate and monitor the work activity of contractor personnel to complete appropriate tasks as scheduled and on budget.
Ensure implementation of VED policies and procedures that ensure public safety, maximize customer satisfaction, and fulfill statutory requirements while meeting or exceeding Division goals. Ensure workplace safety and maintain safe working conditions through field inspection of work sites and equipment. Communicate alerts and other important information to affected employees. Maintain compliance with OSHA, IURC, PUCO, DOT, and PHMSA regulations as applicable.
Protect the safety of the public, company property, and personnel through monitoring and enforcement of work rules, standards, and procedures for emergency response, leak investigation, and all scheduled work while remaining fully compliant and within budgetary limitations. Establish and maintain working relationships with public safety and local municipal, county, and state officials. Demonstrate and encourage civic involvement in local communities. Conduct company and contractor quality and assurance audits.
Available on a 24/7 basis to respond to field emergencies and implement emergency response procedures as necessary. Serve periods of on-call duty watch as required. Perform visual observations and ensure employees maintain current qualifications, as required, to support O.Q. requirements.

Divisional schedulers; Marketing/Sales personnel; Residential, industrial, commercial customers; local government officials; trade allies; Dispatch personnel; Safety & Training personnel; external customers.
Academic Qualification:
Essential:
Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with 4-6 years related experience and/or training desired; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree.
Work Experience:
Essential:
4-6 years of experience, working and technical knowledge of specific Field Operations divisional activities, including construction standards, safety standards, operating and maintenance procedures, and regulations related to field activities.
Preferred:
Working and technical knowledge of specific Field Operations divisional activities, including construction standards, safety standards, operating and maintenance procedures, and regulations related to field activities. Experience in managing union workforce, managing in a performance management environment, and responding to emergencies. Solid PC skills and ability to manage a workforce remotely using technology. Working knowledge of gas compliance (DOT 192) regulations, experienced 24-hours-a-day operations and emergency response.
Functional/Technical Competency Requirements Required:
Solid PC skills a must. Demonstrated ability in assigning and directing work to subordinates. Ability to identify and implement process improvements. Familiarity with the performance appraisal process, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing customer complaints, and resolving field related problems. Ability to respond, asses, and manage emergency situations.
Possess the necessary level of knowledge and skills in Electrical & Mechanical Principles. Familiarity with basics of electrical and mechanical principles for performance, safety and regulatory compliance. Emergency & Crisis Management. Set of procedures applied in planned and coordinated steps for handling, containment and resolution of an emergency. Field Inspection. Critical appraisal involving examination, measurement, testing, gauging, and comparison of materials or items. Gas Delivery Planning. Written account of intended future course of action aimed at delivering gas and related services within a specific timeframe. Safety Engineering. Safety Engineering assures that life-critical system behaves as needed when components fail. Transmission, Dist, Dispatch Ops. Delivery of all energy and related services within assigned divisions, including field construction, compliance, operations, planning and customer service.
