Medical Records Technician - Alutiiq - Terre Haute, IN



Description:

  • Maintain the Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA) information management systems utilized for aerospace medicine and force health protection programs.

  • Update physical examination data in required information management systems.

  • Action record requests for documents are filed in the AHLTA Electronic Medical Records Program within established suspense.

  • Provide continuing education and training updates, as needed, to all personnel who shall use the AHLTA Electronic Medical Records Program to ensure members are trained to successfully utilize the system. Initial training for personnel is accomplished at Active Duty MTF.

  • Create, maintain, and process medical records for current members.

  • Create medical records for new accessions within two weeks of receiving the enlistment order.

  • Process medical records for individuals scheduled for Basic Military Training, Technical School, Transfer, Discharge and Retirement.

  • Prepare medical records for individuals scheduled for medical readiness services and monthly physical exams.

  • File documentation in individual medical/dental records in both the hard copy file and in the electronics Health readiness Record. Provide/input documentation of results of the Bi-monthly case reviews

  • Prescreen medical records for medical/dental health issues that require evaluation for deployment eligibility. Provide data to unit health monitor prior to UTAs.

  • Maintain the Reserve Component Periodic Health Assessment (RCPHA) Program.

  • Schedule members to complete medical/dental requirements. Provide schedule of medical/dental appointments to Unit Health Monitors at least 14 days prior to each Unit Training Assembly.

  • Edit, review, and validate medical records for accuracy and completeness.

  • Document medical records and notify members to contact physician for laboratory or diagnostic results within three days of receiving results.

  • Comply with policies and procedures developed for the flight medicine and grounding management programs. Ensure new policies and procedures are provided to medical staff in a timely manner.

  • Prepare monthly no-show rosters within ten days after each Unit Training Assembly and forward to the Fulltime Medical Officer.

  • Performs quality assurance studies/reviews.

  • Conduct annual medical/dental record reviews.

  • Perform quality assurance checks on in-coming medical/dental records.

  • Compile and complete special and recurring reports for the Medical Group, Wing, and National Guard Bureau.

  • Tasks are completed on-time and meet suspenses, or an extension from the Health Technician is obtained.

  • Medical Group Education and Training program.

  • Submit formal school requests as required.

  • Track formal school requests and notify members and supervisors of enrollment.

  • Schedule testing opportunities for individuals in up-grade training.

  • Maintain seasoning training opportunities for members completing technical school.

  • Track the completion of Career Development Courses.

  • Ensure enrollment of all enlisted personnel in the Air Force Training record (AFTR) program

  • The Medical Record Technician maintains medical records of hospital and clinic patients, reviews medical records for completeness and accuracy, codes diseases, operations, diagnoses and treatments, compiles medical care and census data for statistical reports, and maintains indexes on patient, disease, operation, and other categories. The Medical Record Technician files patient records, maintains flow of medical records, and reports to departments.

Qualifications:

The Contractor shall have a minimum of two years practical experience in medical records management and administration with special focus on medical program management.


The Contractor shall comply with the following Government directives in order to successfully complete the tasks:


  • Service shall be performed in an office environment. This office is located within a medical clinic, and therefore a small potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens exists. The contractor shall obtain appropriate blood borne pathogen training in accordance with OSHA 1910.1030.

  • Privacy Act of 1974, and must be familiar with the proper management of this type of information.

  • Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and must be familiar with the proper management of this type of information and will certify through the RC CBT Module.

  • “For Official Use Only” (FOUO).

  • Operational Security (OPSEC) principles and the proper management of Privacy Act, HIPAA and FOUO information.

Suggested Skill Set: In order to successfully meet the performance objectives of this task order, the Contractor employee should possess the following knowledge/skills:

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral

  • Basic knowledge of standard office procedures and the ability to interpret general instruction

  • Knowledge and experience needed to use Microsoft Office Suite including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Skill with various software programs to maintain database files and prepare reports
