General Manager job - Thorntons Inc. - Terre Haute, IN

General Functions & Responsibilities

Overview

1. Protect the Thorntons Brand.

2. Apply Thorntons Retail Strategy to all retail store functions.

3. Faithfully adhere to all Thorntons policies and procedures.

4. Process all paperwork according to company policy.

5. Inspire and hold accountable all Team Members to deliver Customer Service Excellence and Delight Our Customer.


Controllable

1. Manage sales, shrink, gross profit, supplies, and labor budget.

2. Ensure all employees observe proper money handling procedures.

3. Submit the Store Report as required.

4. Analyze and file all reports.

5. Comply with all inspectors, notifying the Manager of Petroleum Supply and Distribution after inspections are completed.


Marketing and Merchandising

1. Achieve and sustain Merchandising Excellence standards.

2. Display all products according to planogram and monthly marketing plan.

3. Maintain in-stock conditions on all products offered within the assigned store.

4. Keep all sales and storage areas organized.

5. Complete price surveys as directed by the company. General Manager must have a valid Driver’s License in order to complete price surveys. This survey requires the Manager to have a vehicle on site and drive the area of competition which may include several streets and interstate highways. The average miles driven are ten to twenty miles in possible heavy traffic and in all weather conditions. The survey may be required multiple times per day and without scheduled notice.


Human Resources

1. Actively recruit people for attitude and ability to train to succeed….

2. Audit and approve Team Member time punches daily, and submit the store’s payroll on a weekly basis.

3. Train all Team Members on company policies and proper use of all equipment necessary to perform their jobs.

4. Coach all Team Members in order to achieve company and professional goals.

5. Communicate organizational changes to all Team Members in a timely manner.


Safety and Security

1. Ensure that safety equipment is available and in useable condition.

2. Enforce company safety policies and procedures within the store.

3. Ensure proper robbery deterrence measures are maintained.

4. Conduct property walks according to company policy.

5. Complete accident/robbery investigation reports and submit them according to company policy.
