Position Summary

Staples Shipping associates are responsible for various activities within the distribution center which could include the following: upload product from conveyor, build and stack pallets, wrap pallets securely with shrink wrap, and loading pallets onto trailers. Must be able to work 12 hour shifts (8 or 10 hour shifts for Rialto and 8 hour shifts for Wauregan) and overtime as scheduled. Material handling equipment certification is required, with on the job training provided, to load product and ability to operate a Pallet Jack. Associates must possess reading, writing and basic math skills, as well as the ability to lift up to 70 lbs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Sorts boxes and totes from the conveyor system and stacks on pallets.


• Shrink wraps each pallet and labels with appropriate store number.


• Unloads and cleans trailers of pallets, totes, returned product, sweeps trailers.


• Loads and consolidates trailers as necessary. Ensures product is for correct store, properly palletized, shrink-wrapped and counted. Ensures product is loaded properly and secured to prevent damage. Input into RF the number of pallets on each trailer and total number of cases and totes.


• Staffs the jackpot lane, verifies cases and totes in the system, and delivers to the appropriate shipping door. Sorts and delivers store mail to appropriate store lane. Handles all miscellaneous UPS, FedEx, etc.


• Loads bulk pallets, assuring accuracy.


• Regular attendance.


• Works as a team member by interacting and communicating with fellow associates in a cooperative, constructive manner.


• Works as a team member to eliminate and reduce red lights in a timely and independent manner.


• Ability to rotate and assist in other departments.

EQUIPMENT & TOOLS UTILIZED

Writing instruments, pallet jack, forklift, bailer, pallets, calculator, stretch wrap, Robo wrapper, elevated platform, hand truck, RF Unit & scanner.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION/TRAINING:
The basic knowledge of arithmetic. Ability to read and write clearly. Ability to count. Material handling equipment certification. Approximately 2 – 4 weeks of on-the-job training. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with strong attention to detail.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Prefer minimum three (3) months related experience in a operations environment; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training, education and experience


• Must be dependable and demonstrate the ability to follow directions


• Limited computer data entry skills


• Prefer High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work in hot environment of approximately 110

F loading trailers during the summer.
