Automotive Parts Counter Associate

 

PURPOSE OF JOB:  Assisting customers with their auto parts questions and needs (either in-person or via telephone).  Effectively communicating features, benefits, and warranty policy information to customers.  Responsible for efficiently managing inventory control, shipping and receiving, product training, processing returns and maintaining a clean and orderly department.  Must demonstrate a positive, helpful attitude as well as presenting a professional conduct and appearance at all times and adhering to company policies and procedures. 


 


 


JOB DUTIES:                        


·         Assist customers with their auto parts questions and needs (either in-person or via telephone).


 


·         Operate a cash register, merchant credit card processing machine, and computer systems and processing daily paperwork and forms.


 


·         Communicate effectively features, benefits, and warranty policy information to customers.


 


·         Manage inventory control, which includes procurement and warranty parts, distribution, disposal of material, and supervision of the supply, storage and accessibility of items in order to insure an adequate supply without excessive oversupply.


 


·         Manage logistics, shipping and receiving, of parts.


 


·         Successfully achieve or exceed departmental business growth plan for this position.


 


·         Maintain a neat, orderly and organized department. Provide a positive, helpful attitude as well as present professional conduct and appearance at all times.


 


·         Ability to work in a structured work environment, able to adhere to company policies and procedures.


 


 


 


 


PREREQUISITE EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES &/OR COMPETENCIES:      


 


 


·         Prior automotive background or knowledge, ASE (P2) Parts Certification is a definite plus.


·         Knowledge of auto parts is a must.


·         Mechanic knowledge is a plus.


·         Proven exceptional customer service and communications skills (both written and verbal)


·         A positive attitude and great personal drive and high energy,


·         A willingness and ability to learn in a fast-paced retail sales environment.


·         Availability to work Saturdays.


·         Prior knowledge of inventory management systems is helpful.


·         Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are a MUST!


·         Must be at least 18 years of age.
