Job Description :
The primary purpose of the armed ANG Special Deputy Security Officer is to serve in support of the 181st Intelligence Wing, Indiana Air National Guard. The incumbent performs aerospace weapons systems security: defends and protects Air National Guard installation, personnel, equipment and facilities: and maintains law and order, preserves the peace, and provides security of property and personnel.
Responsibilities :
- Control entry to and egress from the location via designated entry/exit points;
- Monitor alarm equipment and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) when applicable and initiate appropriate response forces.
- Patrol/protect location perimeters and equipment storage areas to detect or deter unauthorized entry.
- Provide administrative support to unit Security Force Operations.
- Provide other service necessary to secure location resources and personnel as approved by the Integrated Defense Council (IDC).
Preferred Experience:
Must have a valid high school diploma or equivalent, and two (2) years of military or civilian law enforcement/security experience, accredited college training, or completed Air Force Security Forces Apprentice School
- Minimum of 21-years of age
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License, and may be required to obtain and maintain a military driver’s license to operate assigned military security vehicles
- Must never have been convicted of a felony, or a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude ; Must never have been convicted by civilian or military court except for minor traffic violations or similar infractions; Individuals convicted in any court of a crime of domestic violence are not eligible for hire or retention; other convictions are addressed on an individual basis
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- No drug or alcohol abuse within two (2) years preceding proposed employment
- Must obtain and retain a favorable National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) or a National Agency Check with Law and Credit (NACLC) and/or Secret Security Clearance as determined by the base command
- May be required to obtain a Secret security clearance
- Take and pass the Physical Ability Test (PAT) to demonstrate physical ability to perform the essential functions
- Undergo initial and periodic medical evaluation assessing the ability to take the PAT and to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
- Initial and random drug testing
- Ability to work shifts, overtime, and weekends, as required
- Ability to wear body armor when on-duty; and, chemical protection equipment when necessary
