Job Description
The Material Planning Supervisor will be responsible for developing and managing employees of the material planning department to achieve personal development targets while at the same time leading the team members to achieve department and company goals and objectives. The primary technical responsibility of this position is to coordinate all planning and supply chain activities related to purchased material.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages plant materials process to support operations in meeting performance of department
- Manages the ordering process to ensure that inventory levels meet Plant, Division and Corporate expectations
- Manages and coordinates ramp up and ramp down process for purchased material
- Leads organization in attaining key metrics, including Days on Hand (DOH)
- Improves inventory accuracy by maintaining a formalized inventory cycle counting procedure with root cause analysis to drive corrective action
- Plans and coordinates annual physical inventory in accordance with corporate accounting procedures
- Manages freight spend for purchased material to ensure the overall cost meets Plant, Division, and Corporate targets
- Balances and coordinates the work loads and responsibilities of the employees within the materials planning function
- Develops and manages training plans for the employees within the material planning department
- Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct responsible for the material planning department.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. MRP experience Supply Chain experience (including): expediting material, coordinating supplier capacities, monitoring supply base action/recovery plans, ability to work with international suppliers, cycle count and Automotive experience preferred.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years job experience or 5 years job experience in supply chain management preferred. Excellent communication skills and computer competency. Repetitive manufacturing background within an automated environment is a plus
Computer and Technology Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be experienced with MRP systems (SAP preferred); use of Microsoft Office products and internet usage is required.
