Restorative Care Program Tech


SUMMARY


Provides exercise to inpatients that have or are at risk for debility.   Provided exercises include; walking, deep breathing as well as active and passive range of motion to upper and lower extremities.  Use best practice and evidence based practice when providing direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed therapist


 


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


 


  • Walk patients 1 – 3 times per day to prevent hospital acquired debility.

 


  • Provide passive range of motion exercise to upper and lower extremities of non-responsive, comatose and sedated patients.

 


  • Provide basic active range of motion exercises to upper extremities and lower extremities of patients whom can actively participate.

 


  • Document patient participation in Restorative Care Program (RCP) and relays pertinent information to the therapists and nursing staff.

 


  • Educate hospital personnel on the role and utilization of the therapy RCP.

 


  • Reports patient status changes to licensed therapy staff.

 


  • Issue pre-made exercise handouts for patients to continue exercise after discharge from Union Hospital as applicable.

 


  • Communicates with nursing staff, therapy staff and lift team to coordinate schedule of patient activities.

 


  • Monitors RCP team productivity.

 


  • Uses computer to gather and enter data.

 


  • Participates in quality assurance, program evaluation, infection control, and safety issues.

 


  • Complies with; ProgressiveHealth Standards of Conduct, Mission Statement and served hospitals customer care initiatives.

 


  • Demonstrates commitment to effective customer relations.

 


  • Demonstrates commitment to ethical business practices and corporate compliance initiatives.

 


 


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


There are no supervisory responsibilities.


 


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); prior experience in a nursing or therapy related field is preferred.  Prior degree or certification in exercise, physiology and/or health related field is preferred.


 


 


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS


Must have current CPR certification.
