Armour-Eckrich Meats, a member of Smithfield Packaged Meats Division, is seeking a Management Trainee in Brazil, IN.
WHAT DOES A MANAGEMENT TRAINEE AT SMITHFIELD PACKAGED MEATS DO?
The Management Trainee – DSD is in an 18-24 month leadership development program that includes rotational assignments including Branch Operations, Route Sales, Account Sales and Branch Management. The program is designed to give candidates exposure to all roles across the DSD team and experience in overall branch management, including significant exposure to leadership and administrative roles. After the program is complete, the candidate will have to be willing to relocate to areas that will have open positions. The trainee will work with the assigned manager for the development of targets in each DSD rotational position to develop core leadership and functional skills, ultimately learning all facets of the DSD branch sales and operations business, and being given opportunities to perform leadership and administrative functions within the DSD business.
Key Accountabilities:
• Maintains a competent, trained work force working within budgeted staffing levels.
• Trains employees and manages performance for adherence to DSD standard operating procedures.
• Assists with the development achievement of branch sales and operational goals; participates in self-audits and visual checks, and all related activities.
• Assures daily route schedules are met and all issues are communicated timely.
• Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, display or demonstrate product using samples and emphasize salable features.
• Monitors and meets Company goals for unsalable returns, shrink, A.R. and inventories.
• Ensures appearance and condition of all Company personnel and equipment is maintained to Company standards and in accordance with Company policy and Department of Transportation regulations.
• Develops new areas, capable to work with wholesale and modern trade environment.
• Collects, charts, and interprets statistical data; manages multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Issues corrective actions as required.
• Trains team members in company and regulatory policy, i.e., OSHA, EPA, USDA/FSIS, EEOC
• Ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Federal Regulations require drivers to be at least 21 years of age.
• Experience with Microsoft Office software programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.
• Must be self-motivated, pro-active and have a highly energetic approach to problem solving.
• This is an entry-level position and understanding of food processing, supervisory responsibilities and bi-lingual skills desired.
• A valid driver’s license is required, CDL-B preferred. Willingness to obtain a CDL license within 90 days of employment.
• The individual must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) written test plus a DOT physical and drug screen

Perform inventory for product cases in truck, load and unload products to and from truck and delivering product cases to customer locations using 2-wheel dolly.
