The 1195 Process Operator reports to the 1195 Line Manager and is responsible for raw material handling, equipment disassembly-cleaning-assembly, inspection, in-process sampling, HVAC monitoring, and shop sanitation.
Key Elements:
- Prepare raw materials for use including acids and dextrose, and sorbitol.
- Disassemble, clean and assemble weigh feeders, surge hoppers, flaker belts, equipment filters, mills, hoppers, tanks, evaporators, and sifters.
- Operate and monitor resin treatment and evaporation equipment
- Remove and install equipment transitions and convey systems.
- Make-up chemical washes for the process equipment.
- Perform master sanitation activities in accordance with defined schedules
- Complete In-Process sample testing as needed / required.
- Perform activities per the Hazardous Waste and DOT Hazardous Material – Position Description Appendix, EDOC-030
Related Duties:
- Monitor the shop’s equipment via a computerized distributed process control system.
- Sample and document the process stream at various intervals and locations to monitor product quality. Record the appropriate information as directed.
- Perform minor mechanical tasks ensuring that equipment is in good operating condition.
- Operates within GMP guidelines at all times, paying particular attention to product quality, food safety and area housekeeping.
- Assist in the completion of other departmental tasks as required.
Job Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a technical field or previous operations experience is required. Previous chemical process experience is desired.
- Strong mechanical, technical, and chemical aptitude is required.
- Must be committed to working in a team environment to achieve group objectives.
- Ability to perform advanced calculations and to read and comprehend complex operating procedures is essential.
- Incumbent must successfully certify for operation of a forklift through internal or external training courses. Must also successfully certify for confined space entry of tanks and vessels.
- Must work 12 hour rotating shifts, seven days per week, including holidays. Must work overtime as required.
- Must be capable of completing work while wearing a respirator.
- Must be able to repeatedly lift 55 pounds.
Training:
- Incumbent must complete new employee, departmental, and safety related training. Must also complete Litesse 1195 Intermediate Process Operations training within 18 months of hire. Continuous strong and safe performance will enable incumbent to later begin training for the Skilled Operator or other shop position.
- Must have a desire, willingness, and drive to learn a level N6 (Hydro, Boiler, or 1196C) operator position, and also learn the1195 APO position.
