We also publish a daily column in the New York Times, Le Monde, International Herald Tribune, Cinco Dias and other leading and prestigious newspapers, giving us a highly visible profile among policymakers worldwide.

This is an exciting new role for a financially literate senior-level correspondent looking to write high-impact opinions on a rising economic region. The role will be ideally based in our Sao Paulo bureau with regular trips to other nations in the region, reporting to the New York-based Americas editor. The columnist will have razor-sharp analytical skills, strong writing skills and a proactive approach to generating ideas and pouncing on stories. While stories about the Brazilian economy, markets and companies are likely to be the largest component of coverage, the candidate will have purview over a dynamic region extending from the Tierra del Fuego to Mexico.

The role will include:

- Writing sharp views, typically 350 words, on the regional economy and financial markets
- Drilling down into companies, sectors and asset classes
- Analyzing political developments from a financial perspective
- Focusing on Brazil, but with regular coverage of the rest of Latin America
- Acting as our ambassador in the region
- Editing and contributing to ideas generation within the Reuters bureauThe successful applicant will have:

- Demonstrable ability to generate agenda-setting ideas for a global audience
- Top-level contacts in finance, business and politics
- Sound knowledge of economics, markets and corporate finance
- An ability to articulate considered, unbiased opinions to tight deadlines
- The desire to be the leading commentator in the region for a global audience
- A high level of Fluency in Portuguese and Spanish
