MAINTENANCE OPERATOR - Union Hospital - Terre Haute, IN

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
·

Performs repair and preventative maintenance of all buildings and support equipment, including but not limited to:


HVAC systems, boilers, water heaters, water softeners, refrigerators, ice-makers.


·


Performs repair and replacement of plumbing fixtures, sinks, toilets, water supply, and drains.


·


Performs electrical repair and replacement of switches, receptacles, light fixtures, bulbs, circuit breakers, fuses.


·


Has ability to maintain all electrical systems, new circuits for relocation or installation of medical and support equipment, and remodeling projects.


·


Has ability to use volt meters, read gauges, read blueprints and schematics.


·


Prepares hazardous waste for shipment.


·


Performs basic repair of furniture and may move furniture from office and set up new offices.


·


Performs basic repair of floor tile, carpet, wallpaper, and paint.


·


Performs tests and preventative maintenance on all fire and security alarm systems.


·


Performs troubleshooting; analyzes, anticipates and, if necessary, takes immediate action on potential problem conditions.


·


Assists in keeping the maintenance department and tools in clean and orderly condition.


·


Assists Groundsworker when necessary to keep grounds mowed, sidewalks, entrances, exits, and parking lots clean and free of ice, snow, and trash.


·


Serves where needed during emergencies, minor security incidents, and vacations.


·


Maintains proper documentation of necessary forms and reports.


·


Works overtime when requested.

TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES NEEDED:
1.


Electrical and mechanical background with ability to interpret blueprints specifications.


2.


Knowledge of electrical and pneumatic controls.


3.


Must have or be able to obtain necessary refrigerant certifications.


4.


Must have a valid driver’s license.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.


The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop and kneel, and talk or hear.


The employee is occasionally required to sit.


The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.


Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.


OSHA III Classification.


TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Operating maintenance manuals, test equipment, small hand tools, power tools, and standard tools of the trade
