Accounting Clerk - ADVICS - Terre Haute, IN

Summary/Objective

Compiles, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for the use of maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.

Essential Functions

  • Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions.

  • Verifies and posts details of business transactions Understand and be able to assist in performing preventive maintenance assignments.

  • Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, and approves for payment.

  • Investigates problems that vendors or purchasing agents have with obtaining payment for bills.

  • Computes and records charges, refunds, cost of lost or damaged goods, freight charges, rentals, and similar items. Be able to perform machine set up.

  • Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records, and reviews for accuracy.

  • Reconciles general ledger accounts with various registers.

  • Extracts general ledger information.

  • Compiles cost reports and revenue and balance sheets.

  • Reconciles bank statements.

  • Monitors loans and accounts payable and receivable to ensure that payments are up to date.

  • Reconciles bank statements.

  • Codes data for input to financial data processing systems according to company procedures.

  • Reviews, balances, and interprets computer reports, and makes corrections.

  • Assists employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.

Supervisory Responsibility


This position has no supervision responsibilities.


Work Environment


This job operates in a professional office environment and/or manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Frequently the work environment may be loud, requiring hearing protection.

Expected Hours of Work


This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Overtime is required during month end closing and as needed.

Required Education and Experience


Associate’s degree from an accredited College or University. A minimum of 1-2 years of related experience and/or training preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.


Preferred Education and Experience


Associate’s degree from an accredited College or University. A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience and/or training preferred. Proficiency with Oracle.
