General Description:

Parke County Parks & Recreation Board is seeking a highly motivated individual to continue progress at Rockville Lake Park. This 400 acre county facility offers camping, fishing, and other outdoor leisure opportunities. 102 acre Rockville Lake is regionally recognized as a pan-fishing hotspot and attracts visitors from across Indiana and Illinois. The camping facility offers AA, modern, primitive camping, and two camping cabins, two shower houses, and a variety of outdoor amenities. Implementation of a five year master plan, innovative marketing efforts, leadership, community involvement, and capital improvements have assisted with an annual increase in revenue and facility users.

Job Functions:

Prepares, presents, and administers an annual operating budget of $275,000. Plans and directs the department within budgetary limitations while displaying interests and full utilization of available facility. Develops, recommends and implements departmental policies, procedures, regulations and work priorities. Directs and develops long- and short range plans for department operations and capital improvements through facility master and strategic plan.


Leads and manages up to fifteen seasonal personnel. Conducts bi-weekly payroll and weekly schedules of maintenance, gatehouse, and security personnel, along with event and special interest volunteers.


Assists with management and maintenance of facility grounds. Including basic ground-keeping, functional landscaping, wildlife and environmental plantings, and light construction.


Manages and assists with ordering of concessions and operational supplies.


Develops, coordinates, and facilitates facility events and programs.


Attends County Council and County Commissioner meetings.


Conducts park board meetings relaying all pertinent information to the governing board.


Meets with civic, social and other special interest groups to establish community partnerships. Represents the agency on boards and committees and attends various meetings and functions to present, explain and promote agency programs and initiatives.
